JOB DUTIES:
As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and with minimal supervision, you will be responsible for supporting current products and transferring new products and technologies from product development to production at our contract manufacturer. Responsibilities will include ensuring completeness of documentation, developing and implementing cost effective methods for testing systems and subsystems, sustaining support to the contract manufacturer, transfer of design to manufacturing, and engineering support for vendor management. You will work collaboratively with Product Development, Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure new product introduction success and sustained production. This is a hands-on position requiring strong leadership skills as you represent Kaleidescape to our manufacturer maintaining our professional and supportive image. You will be managing processes, relationships and execution both onsite and remotely.
In addition, you will be an integral part of monitoring, reporting and improving product reliability. This requires regular interface with reliability engineering, development engineering, customer support and supply chain management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure design for efficient manufacturability and testability in collaboration with Product Development during requirement definition and design reviews.
- Develop and/or work with vendors and independent contractors to create test fixtures and test software.
- Develop documentation to support manufacturing (interconnect wiring diagrams/schematics, theory of operations, test procedures, troubleshooting guide, test reports, statistical reports, etc.)
- Analyze production and test processes for cost reduction opportunities.
- Contribute to or develop statistical methods for production and reliability reporting.
- Together with reliability engineering, define and implement quality/reliability improving product and process modifications.
- Train manufacturing personnel on test process, test equipment, and test software.
- Ensure timely failure analysis of systems and components and initiate preventive or corrective action as appropriate.
- Provide day-to-day sustaining support to manufacturing.
- Other related responsibilities as assigned.
- Travel up to 20-25% including outside the U.S.
SKILLS:
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member with high integrity in a fast paced start up environment with a desire to strive for continuous improvement and excellence.
- Problem solver, eager to define and commit to and meet deadlines.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and proactive communication skills in English; bilingual Spanish desirable.
- Demonstrated competence as a Manufacturing Engineer.
- Well organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent hands-on bench/lab skills.
- Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective action.
- Advanced computer skills including networking and operating system configuration is a plus.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Required: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience electronics manufacturing.
- 5-7 years relevant experience in electronics manufacturing supporting manufacturing NPI and production.
- Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft office products.
- Experienced with document control or product line management tools such as Agile or Arena.
- Experience in rapid growth, entrepreneurial environment a plus.
